Call for Board Members

Join the ABA Australia Board of Directors

ABA Australia is now accepting nominations for two key leadership roles on our Working Board of Directors:

  • President Elect (1-year term, followed by terms as President and Past President; total 3 years)

  • General Board Member (2-year term)

These are exciting opportunities to contribute to the growth and governance of ABA in Australia and to shape the future of our professional community.

Why Join the Board?

Becoming a board member means:

  • driving strategic initiatives that support the mission of ABA Australia;

  • collaborating with passionate professionals to grow and strengthen our field;

  • enhancing your leadership skills while making a meaningful impact; and

  • representing the diverse voices of practitioners, researchers, and stakeholders across Australia.

About the Roles

President Elect

Term: 3 years total (1 year as President Elect, 1 as President, 1 as Past President)
Estimated time commitment: 10–15 hours/month
Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the President and step into the role the following year

  • Lead service and operational projects

  • Co-chair meetings and ethics discussions

  • Prepare to represent the Board with confidence, leadership, and vision

General Board Member

Term: 2 years

Estimated time commitment: 10 hours/month
Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in board meetings and ethics discussions

  • Complete two service and two operational projects

  • Help grow ABA Australia's initiatives and connect with stakeholders

Who Should Apply?

We're looking for members who:

  • Are current members of ABA Australia and ABAI in good standing

  • Bring a mix of skills, governance experience, and a passion for ABA

  • Are committed to diversity, inclusion, and representing Australia's broad community

  • Can collaborate effectively, think strategically, and lead with integrity

How to Nominate

To nominate yourself, please submit the following by 26 May 2025:

  1. A completed Working Board of Directors Candidate Application (member login required)

  2. Your CV/resume outlining relevant experience

  3. A 300-word candidate statement describing your interest and suitability

  4. Confirmation of your ability to commit to the full term

What Happens Next?

  • Nominations are open for three weeks.

  • If more nominations than vacancies are received, an election will follow.

  • New board members will be formally introduced at the AGM and via our communications channels.

  • New board members will need to complete the induction training.
